Interesting foregrounds make for a more interesting night sky photo. Moab Utah has very little light pollution. You can use Ap's that tell you when the Milky Way will appear and where. But you should scout the sites during the day so you know where to set up your tripod.
Star Trail
This is my first-star trail. It isn't totally clear but I liked the cloud in the lower left. Turned out better than I though. Taken in Moab, UT. 2018
