What I found interesting is the Roman influence even in South America. Machu Picchu is not the only ruin. It is the most famous but there are many more like it in the country. Spectacular scenery. Beware of the altitude, if you have heart issues. Lots of walking involved. It may take a few days to get acclimated.
Aguas Calientes
This is the closest town to Machu Picchu. It gives you an idea of the living situation although my hotel the Inkaterra was wonderful. It is actually a lovely town. 2014
Church of the Society of Jesus
This church is in Cusco and quite beautiful inside. It is done in the Spanish Baroque style. 2014
Machu Picchu in the Fog
It was quite cloudy the morning I went to the ruins. The climb up Wayna Picchu was brutal. I could not get a good photo and only made it a quarter of the way up. 2014
Hotel Along the Tracks
This hotel was near where I stayed and it was along the railroad tracks in Aguas Calientes town. 2014
