Right at the New Year, the Yuyuan Market in Shanghai has some beautiful lanterns. In Janyary 2017, I was in China and really enjoyed my time there. I went by myself and had private guides that my travel agent set up for me. I felt safe and had a wonderful trip. The time of year is especially good for the lantern festivals.
